You will likely find that you weigh slightly less in the morning than you did the night before. That means your metabolism is working – your body is using energy and burning fat while you sleep. This fat is used, transformed, and eventually exhaled at carbon dioxide.
If you are not consistently buying bigger clothes – even while you are overweight – you likely don’t have a metabolism problem.
For most people, their subconscious mind steers them to make decisions and engage in behavior that keeps them at a certain body weight. They were likely close to someone with a similar body shape and weight during a significant time in their lives. Because of this, the person now strives to embody this body type. Often you would stay within 10% (more or less) of the body weight of the person you are emulating.
In addition to that, various imbalances in your body could also affect your weight. This is often linked to where you carry weight (or excess weight) on your body. Women who carry their weight on their hips may have hormone imbalances.
Similarly, extra weight around the belly could be related to imbalances in stress hormones like cortisol often related to adrenal fatigue.
